Abstract

This study is part of the Memories Project, developed within the activities of the research group Pensamento Comunicacional Latino-Americano (PCLA). The research seeks to reflect on the issue of diversity in the social-political domain based on three personalities: Herbert Daniel, Jean Wyllys, and Eduardo Leite, bringing to discussion the construction of information in the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, through the analysis of its news criteria and its media agenda. The object of analysis will be the newspaper's coverage in three distinct periods, in which these citizens publicly assume belonging to the LGBTQIAP+ community, claiming a place in Brazilian politics, and guide the media with diversity issues. Through a bibliographic and documental review, supported by content analysis, we will seek to know how the vehicle carried out the news coverage, highlighting the tensions between the public space and human and social rights. Through an exploratory study it will be possible to know the empirical object and to delimit the research corpus considering characteristics of the journalistic language by including aspects of the news content and the defined categories. The final result will be able to recognize the influence of the newspaper in the news construction about society and its vision in relation to the reduction of inequalities, justice and social inclusion, facing the discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity, identifying the stereotypes in the news coverage, linked to the political and legal agenda.
