Abstract

The candidate for the doctoral scholarship, together with the thematic project team,will contribute to the growth of multiferroic single crystals with optical propertiesoptimized for piezophotonic applications. Piezoelectric and optical properties (spectrumabsorption/transmission of samples over a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum- 400 nm - 2600 nm) will be characterized simultaneously seeking to investigate thecoupling of piezoelectric properties and the absorption of electromagnetic radiation from thesingle crystals grown by the Bridgeman technique. The system for crystals growing is installed at the Institute of Technology of UNIFESP/S. J. dos Campos. The piezo-photonic characterization system is configurable and will allow to study thematerial properties as a function of an applied electric and/or magnetic field. OneLED and LASER system will offer for the first time the possibility of starting a study on the importance of coherence in light-matter interaction. In a second phase of the project, the candidate will participate either in the development of a prototype, based on the single crystals, seeking to explore potential applications in piezophotonics.
