The achievements legitimized in Brazilian legislation and the initiatives for its implementation have brought advances to the social participation of people with disabilities The general objective of the study is to verify the individual and collective social participation of young people and adults with T21 through the Photovoice method and the specific objectives: to characterize the social experiences of young people and adults with T21, according to their reports; identify spaces and interpersonal relationships of these young adults with T21 and train young people and adults with T21 to identify and reflect on themselves and their social participation. The research will follow a descriptive qualitative approach based on action research and approximately five young people and adults with T21 will participate. The study will be forwarded for approval by the Ethics Committee and the participants will receive the terms of free and informed consent and assent. Data collection will take place at an Institute for the coexistence of people with T21, in a municipality in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The instruments to be used will be: Questionnaire to characterize the participants; Script for recording photographs using the Photovoice method; Roadmap for the elaboration of collective reflective meetings. Data will be analyzed qualitatively, according to the instruments used. It is hoped that the results will serve to show the empowerment of the rights of young people and adults with T21 and stimulate skills that allow them to exercise social participation in the different functional contexts of life.
