Abstract

The project's goal is to make a chemical correlation between the constituents of the parasite plant Passovia ovata with its host Trembleya parviflora, aiming for the comprehension of the secondary metabolite sharing or accumulation. The bird weeds, as they are known as in Brazil, are parasites that will dock in the host's tissue, using their nutrients, water, and various chemical substances. To better comprehend the secondary metabolites sharing between these species the extracts obtained will be analysed using thin-layered chromatography (TLC), solid phase partitioning and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Fractions and extracts will be selected for analysis using high performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometer (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Using multivariate analysis and metabolomic strategies, known compounds will be dereplicated and the chemical profile correlation analysis will be made. In the end, a contribution to better understanding of this complex ecological relationship is expected.
