Abstract

Greenhouse and indoor farming are promising alternatives to traditional growing systems due to the possibility of improved control over the raw material for plant cultivation resources, even using smaller cultivable areas. Beyond that, crop production in both the aforesaid systems can be increased by tailoring the spectrum of the light that reaches the plant leaves to ideal conditions, favoring plant growth, and boosting the formation of flowers and fruits. In this way, perovskite quantum dots (QDs) are appealing for applications as photoluminescent materials in fluorescent films and panels. Due to the size- and composition-dependent spectral features presented by QDs, such materials allow the tuning of the emission spectrum presented by fluorescent films and panels loaded with those semiconductor nanocrystals. In this way, this project proposes the development of a protocol to synthesize Mn-doped CsEuCl3 PNCs, with the application of such nanocrystals in polymeric matrices to obtain blue- and red-emitting fluorescent films and panels, aiming their future applications in greenhouses and in indoor farming.
