Abstract

In this BEPE proposal, an arm of my ongoing Ph.D. research which investigates the landscape of sexual, affective and material exchanges in intergenerational relationships in Cape Town, South Africa, I propose a 12-month BEPE research stay at the University of the Western Cape, under the supervision of Professor Marlize Rabe, preeminent scholar of family studies. I justify the proposal by arguing it would strengthen my ongoing research on three fronts: theoretical perspectives, maintenance and extension of academic networks, and resumption and continuation of in-site fieldwork.
