Abstract

In recent years, personalized medical care using wearable devices has been intensively investigated to replace conventional hospital diagnosis and follow-up. Breathable tattoo sensors allow for comfortable and fast long-term health monitoring without the delays associated with centralized laboratory analysis. This project aims to develop micro-perforated epidermal devices that combine the properties of graphene or a transition metal carbide or nitride (MXene) with a very important characteristic, which is breathability. The epidermal electronics will be characterized by a series of physicochemical and electrochemical techniques and applied to the monitoring of biomarkers such as vitamin C in non-invasive procedures. The breathable tattoo electronics will also be coated with antibodies to monitor molecules such as 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 and cortisol directly on the skin. (AU)
