Abstract

This study proposes an investigative itinerary through part of Sebastião Uchoa Leite's poetic work, grounded on the configuration of illness in the books A uma incógnita (1991), A ficção vida (1993), A espreita (2000) and A regra secreta (2002). Through reading and analyzing the poems and the theoretical and critical works related to the reflection, the study offers an interpretation of the multiple forms of incorporation of the sickness experience in his poetic, as well as indentifies potentials relations between poetry and his own life in the process of fictionalization of the moments experienced by the poet, such as the disease discovery and the hospitalization episodes. The exploration of this specific theme aims at a greater understanding of Uchoa Leite's work.
