Abstract

Oral acute toxicity of insecticides formulated with two active ingredients on the bee Melipona scutellaris Latreille (Apidae: Meliponini)Pollination mediated by native bees is an essential ecosystem service for the agroecosystem and has gained a lot of repercussions from scientific researchers, due to the high added value in the quality of food and the resources produced. However, the intensification of agricultural activities and the abusive use of pesticides causes a decrease in pollinators, especially stingless bees. The stingless bee Melipona scuttelaris is endemic to northeastern Brazil but adapted to the climatic conditions of the state of São Paulo. Among the bees of the genus, it has stood out for its easy handling and honey production. In the agroecosystem, insecticides formulated with two active ingredients have been used due to the increase in cases of pest resistance, as well as their synergistic effect on target insects. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the acute oral toxicity of commercial products formulated with two active ingredients on the bee M. scutelaris. The acute oral toxicity tests will be conducted at the Laboratorio de Ecotoxicology e Conservação das Abelhas, at Instituto de Biosciences at UNESP, Rio Claro campus. The following formulations will be used: abamectin + chlorantraniliprole, acephate + bifenthrin, alpha-cypermethrin + teflubenzuron, chlorantraniliprole + lambda-cyhalothrin and chlorantraniliprole + thiamethoxam. The insecticide dimexion (dimethoate) will be used as a positive control, as well only sucrose solution will be used as a negative control. In this case, the lethal concentration (LC50) will be estimated . Mortality data will be analyzed according to the assumptions of normality and homestay, and treatment means compared by a generalized linear model. In the end, it is expected that the lethal concentrations for each formulation will be reached.Key words: Ecotoxicology; native bees; ready mix insecticides; lethal concentration.
