Abstract

The advancement of research related to changes in the surface caused by society's action has enabled several discussions due to different scientific biases. The focus of the present project is the changes in the physical and chemical characteristics of surface materials in urban and peri-urban areas of the cities studied in Brazil (Rondonópolis - MT and Presidente Prudente - SP) and in Vienna (Austria); the latter investigated in the context of projects with interdisciplinary teams coordinated by Prof. Doctor Michael Wagreich. The main objective of the internship refers to the acquisition of new knowledge about the technical and interpretative possibilities regarding areas called, in Brazil, Aggraded Technogenic Grounds, that is, areas that present an accumulation of materials with indications of society's action, whether by the presence of manufactured materials or by indications of changes in the processes responsible for sedimentary deposition. With this objective in mind, there will be participation in various activities related to ongoing projects in Vienna, such as frequent meetings with the research team, participation in laboratory activities and field work. Thus, it is expected to expand the framework of procedures and interpretations to be used in Brazil in the context of postdoctoral studies and future work, as well as to enable the exchange of experiences between international research groups and contribute to the debate about the Anthropocene.
