Abstract

Through this study, the objective is to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of dexmedetomidine by the epidural route in bitches submitted to ovariohysterectomy. For this purpose, 20 bitches will be used, without racial predisposition, aged between one and five years, weight from 5 to 25 kg, healthy, classified as ASA I, distributed into 2 randomized groups: Control Group (GC) and Dexmedetomidine Group (GD ). Data collection will be performed at baseline (MB), followed by pre-anesthetic medication with acepromazine (0.03 mg/kg, IM). After 15 minutes, propofol (IV) will be administered for anesthetic induction and maintenance will be performed through inhalational anesthesia with isoflurane. After dressing, they will receive epidural administration: GC (morphine 0.1 mg/kg) and GD (dexmedetomidine 4 ¼g/kg), diluted to a total volume of 0.22 mL/kg. The studied variables will be collected before (M0) and after the epidural (M1) and the transoperative variables will be observed after 15 minutes of epidural administration (M2), at the time of the skin incision (M3), during the traction of the left pedicle (M4 ) and the right pedicle (M5), clamping of the uterine body (M6), start of muscle suture (M7) and end of dermorrhaphy (M8). During the postoperative period, analgesia will be evaluated using multidimensional scales and the evaluation moments will be: at extubation (Mextub), after 60 minutes (M60), after 120 minutes (M120) and at intervals of two hours, during a total of eight hours (M240, M360 and M480). Finally, the animals will be evaluated 24 hours after extubation (MF). As for the statistical analysis, for the pain scales and abbreviated sedation scale, the correlation between evaluators will be evaluated by Pearson's correlation test.
