Abstract

The energy use of organic waste and the need for decarbonization of the power generation sector in the context of climate change are issues that, with the use of appropriate technologies and mechanisms, can converge to transform current problems into solutions for the future. To this end, it is essential that there be coherence in energy policies. In this context, this research aims to propose regulatory framework structures that contribute to the biomass use policy in Brazil, conciliating it with negative emissions technologies, such as BECCS, as a support for the energy transition. The proposed methodology consists of applied research of qualitative approach, with exploratory and propositional objectives, from the application of Strategic Environmental Assessment. It is expected to obtain as a result suggestions for improving the Brazilian regulation that can subsidize the development of regulations for energy use from biomass and the potential of bioenergy and carbon capture technologies (BECCS), in a coherent way with the existing regulatory policy, to act as an influential factor in the energy transition.
