Abstract

Culture is secured as a right by the Constitution, and art is presented as an important means to estab-lish exchanges, generate reflections and structure meanings, values, questions and differences. When dialoguing with environmental sustainability, artistic creations bring to light a critical narrative, which can even represent threats to environmental quality. This project aims to generate an under-standing of the media impact of cultural exhibitions that have connections with environmental sus-tainability, in particular the preservation of water resources. The research intends, through the meth-odology of framing analysis, to characterize the repercussion of artistic exhibitions on the theme of water, environment and sustainability in the coverage of the newspapers Folha de S. Paulo and O Estado de S. Paulo and Veja magazine, analyzing it under specific categories: dominant themes, proposed forms of cultural fruition, predominant symbolic representations, emphasized consequences, suggested connections, attitudes and related behaviors, expographic and curatorial resources explored. By identifying how these aspects were mediatized, the research should contribute to the identification of how the studied media were constructed as social actors as they tended to favor certain behaviors and attitudes in relation to the environment.
