Abstract

In the present time, to dedicate oneself to the study of Antiquity it's a big challenge when compared to other periods in History, which provide a greater number of sources to our historical inquiry. Consequently, as historians of the Ancient World, we have to engage in the analysis of the available sources allied with new methodologies in order to look into this wide period of History. The project here displayed is greatly influenced by the gender problematic discussed in the last decades, and for that reason propose the analysis of the women in the persian royalty, such as the mothers, wives and daughter of the Great King, that are portrayed in many ancient literary and material sources, raising reflections about the influence and power conveyed by the classical documents.
