Abstract The production of energetic particles in the Universe remains one of thegreat mysteries of modern science. Particle acceleration mechanisms in as-trophysical sources are still unknown and recent results point to the need fora multi-messenger approach to solve this problem. The interpretation of themeasured data depends on the knowledge of the properties of interactionsbetween particles at energies unreachable by terrestrial experiments. In thisway, the analysis of cosmic particles can bring precious information aboutastrophysical objects as well as about the elementary interactions of nature.This project focuses on fundamental physics aspects of particle astrophysics.We will study the possibility of detecting or imposing limits on the Lorentzinvariance break related to the propagation of energetic particles and its in-teractions in the atmosphere. Part of the works proposed for the masterthesis are extensions of the student's IC. In addition to these extensions, wewill address other issues that will require the development and mastery ofnew tools and concepts. The objectives of this project are daring and arerelated to the frontier of knowledge in this research area. The master workwill be inserted within the experimental efforts of the CTA and Pierre AugerObservatories. | |
