Abstract

Serial Works are complex bibliographic objects, "living" resources, which can undergo evolution over time, changing their bibliographic information, besides combining whole/part relationships and aggregation relationships. The dynamic and changing nature of the Serial Work and its essence, which is a completely different kind than of the monographs, has always raised questions peculiar to its description and bibliographic control. However, as the cataloging practice increasingly integrates the Semantic Web and Linked Data scenario, new approaches have emerged, expressed, for example, in the PRESSoo and IFLA LRM conceptual models. The objective of this research is to study the IFLA LRM and PRESSoo models, as well as their proposals and solutions for the modeling of Serial Works in a Linked Data environment. Therefore, it is proposed the realization of a Systematic Literature Review (RSL), in order to identify the state of the art of the subject, and an applied study, which will consist in the elaboration of an extension of the IFLA LRM, investigating a possible integration of records of scientific databases and scientific journals and records of library catalogs in the Linked Data environment.
