The construction industry has great responsibility in the economic growth of a country, but also in the exacerbated consumption of non-renewable raw materials. The lack of application of new technologies for materials in construction means that much waste is still generated at construction sites. Therefore, research that aims to reuse materials that are often discarded, but that can be applied in several areas, such as concrete, is of utmost importance. Thus, this project consists in the development of sustainable concrete blocks with the incorporation of quartz powder (mining waste) as a partial replacement for fine aggregate and glass powder as a replacement for Portland cement. Firstly, the mortar compositions will be analyzed, and after finding the best mix, the tests will be performed on the concrete itself, evaluating its characteristics and feasibility for industrial scale. The project has great relevance for the study and application on an industrial scale, contributing to a more sustainable construction. (AU)
