Abstract

This project proposes to understand and discuss football as a cultural and possibly ancestral Nhandereko (way of life) Guarani element, from its pre-colonial format known as Manga Ñembosarai (ball game with the feet), to the current matches and championships , such as the Liga Mbya Guarani from Santa Catarina, from the Indigenous Land Morro dos Cavalos/SC. In addition, we will seek to understand whether there is a relationship between displacements between villages to carry out matches, and the maintenance of the traditional Guarani oguatá (walk), establishing a network of relationships and cultural exchange directly related to their understanding of Yvy Rupá (territory). For this purpose, the following methodologies will be used: general bibliographical and documental survey of Jesuit reports, in addition to carrying out field work with participant observation and free and semi-structured interviews. It is important to emphasize that such research will be based on participatory and decolonial principles. With this, the aim is to register this possible ancestral relationship between Guaranis and football, being able to bring visibility to the existence, resistance and Guarani culture, in addition to expanding the horizons of Brazilian Geography and Human Sciences.
