Abstract This research project aims to develop a study of Samuel Beckett's television plays written and staged by the playwright-director between the years 1965 and 1985, making an arch that ranges from the creation of the dramaturgical text to its materialization through the respective television staging. Defining as object the dramaturgy and the stagings developed by Beckett at BBC Television and Süddeutscher Rundfunk, the research intends to establish a dialogue with Beckett's work as director of his theatrical plays, especially his final dramaturgical works contemporary to the television plays, in order to deepen our study of Beckett's work within the staging field, which started during our master's and doctorate related to the theatrical plays. In order to do so, we will study, in addition to the six television dramaturgical works produced by the Irishman - Eh Joe (1965), Ghost trio (1975), ... but the clouds ... (1976), Quad (1982), Nacht und Träume (1982) and Was wo (1985) -, a wide range of unpublished documents related to different stages of the development of the dramaturgy and the stagings, notably unpublished manuscripts and typescripts located at the Beckett International Foundation, linked to the University of Reading, in England. Besides the primary bibliography we will also develop a broad study of the extensive secondary bibliography related to Beckett's work, especially works focused on the analysis of the playwright-director's television plays. This project is part of the genetic criticism related to Beckett's work, still little developed in Brazil. | |
