Abstract

The universe of rural producers to be worked on in the initial CPAD project will consist of small and medium-sized rural properties located in Agro-Technological Districts (DATs). The selection of DATs will be guided by a prior choice of locations in the Brazilian territory, distributed in Major Regions: five DATs in the state of São Paulo, one in the state of Minas Gerais, totaling six in the Southeast region, and another four DATs distributed one by one to the other Greater Brazilian Regions. For the selection of DATs, indicators will be developed, which will be used from official databases and which are correlated with digital agriculture. As candidate indicators are the rural demographic density, the number of producers in associations, the number of producers in cooperatives, the use of the internet, the availability of electricity and the use of computers, part of which will be extracted from the 2017 Agricultural Census. For each indicator, the relative participation of the total number of small and medium properties over the total number of municipal properties will be analysed. All data will be spatialized through the use of Geographic Information Systems. After selecting the DATs, diagnoses will be made for each of the 10 municipalities selected for the project. Each diagnosis will have the purpose of characterizing the municipalities guided by three thematic fronts of interest: a) socioeconomic (educational level of the producer, rural demography, agroindustrial production value, agricultural and non-agricultural economic activities, etc.); b) local infrastructure (availability of electricity on the rural property, distance from the property to the urban center, signal coverage of internet and telephone operators, etc.); and c) support network (level of social organization of rural producers, belonging (or not) to agro-industrial associations and/or cooperatives, presence of public and private institutions for technical assistance and rural extension - ATER, research and teaching institutions focused on to rural areas, etc.).The results of the diagnosis of the municipalities should bring a framework of relevant information to understand their level of development, demands and potential to absorb digital agriculture. The weaknesses (weaknesses), opportunities (opportunities), strengths (strengths) and threats (threats) for the effectiveness of the implementation of the DATs will also be identified. (AU)
