ANALYSIS OF THE CARE AND REHABILITATION PROCESS OF ADULT AND ELDERLY USERS IN A HEARING REHABILITATION CENTER

Abstract

Introduction: Hearing loss affects individuals in all age groups. Adults and seniors with hearing loss suffer from social isolation, in the family environment and at work. To provide an adequate quality of life for adults and elderly people with hearing loss, public health policies and hearing health services are essential. Objective: To analyze the production of care networks for adult and elderly users assisted by a Hearing Rehabilitation Center, as well as the degree of adherence to the principles and guidelines defined in the regulations of the Care Network for Persons with Disabilities. Method: Qualitative research, with a cartographic approach, of the research-interference type, mediated by the perspective of the in-world researcher, carried out in an Auditory Rehabilitation Center in a city in the interior of the State of São Paulo. The set of information produced that make up the research analysis corpus consists of: 1) research and document analysis; 2) production reports from the Hearing Rehabilitation Center database; 3) 19 interviews with social actors, five managers and eight workers with whom the interviews are semi-structured and six in-depth interviews with guide users; 4) participant observation at the Hearing Rehabilitation Center; and 5) recording in a field diary. The theoretical assumptions of the analytical process are the conceptual tools of Institutional Analysis. Expected results: It is expected to identify and problematize the main advances and challenges existing in the SUS network regarding hearing health care aimed at adult and elderly users.
