Abstract

Obtaining a good adhesive bond to dentin is more complex than to enamel, because dentin is naturally hydrophilic. Research has long been carried out to obtain better adhesion to dentin. Restorative procedures for indirect restorations require a temporary restoration, which, combined with the use of a temporary cement, reduces adhesion to dentin. To optimize adhesion, a technique has been developed that proposes sealing the dentin after preparation with a high-load adhesive. In this regard, this study aims to evaluate the effect of different surface modifications on the bond strength of composite to IDS (Immediate Dentin Sealing) and DDS (Delayed Dentin Sealing) after contamination of the dentin with temporary cement, as well as to assess the clinical performance of laminate veneers over up to 15 years of clinical service. For the µ-TBS test, 46 human molars will be selected and sectioned in half, so that 92 half molars will be randomly distributed into 4 study groups, according to the presence of DDS and the time and type of sandblasting. The mode of failure will be analyzed using a stereo microscope and the statistical analysis of bond strength will be carried out using ANOVA. For the clinical research, a group of 270 individuals aged between 18 and 78years were submitted to the application of 1,000 laminated ceramic veneers, cemented onto a substrate with immediate dentin sealing. The restorations will be visually inspected with a dental mirror, a probe and by means of transillumination with light. Cumulative survival analysis, Kaplan-Meier and Log Rank (Mantel-Cox) tests, Fisher's exact test and chi-squared test will be carried out. All tests will have an alpha significance level of 0.05.
