Abstract

In Brazil, data on breastfeeding shows that black and brown women tend to breastfeed their children for longer and more often. This result is justified by the data collection agencies as an exclusive consequence of the financial reality to which this population is conditioned, placing the economic situation as the protagonist of this story, treating the positive effects on their children's health as a fluke and ignoring the intersectional situation in which this population finds itself. This study aims to assess breastfeeding self-efficacy from the perspective of intersectionality. This is a quantitative exploratory-descriptive cross-sectional study that seeks to understand human breastfeeding and its intersections in relation to the black population, using data collection through a questionnaire and comparing it with national data, identifying how the socioeconomic and cultural conditions of these people affect the breastfeeding of their offspring. Characteristics of the breastfeeding population will be collected using a semi-structured questionnaire and the data will be explored alongside existing literature on the subject. We hope to understand the causes of the black population's role in breastfeeding, beyond the determinism of the state.
