Abstract

The research project focuses the political process that promotes (or not) the decarbonization - transformation towards low carbon patterns - of the Brazilian economy. Given the urgency of climate action, and employing the Historical Institutionalism theoretical framework, the research will delineate how political coalitions in land use change and forestry, energy and agriculture sectors acted in the debate on Brazilian decarbonization between 2003 and 2013. The period is chosen due to important transformations in the globalization and democracy agendas worldwide. (AU)
