Abstract

The presence of women in medicine has increased by 60% in most countries. Although this increase represents a certain balance between men and women, women end up having to reconcile multiple female functions, a real struggle when thinking about gender equity. The present study seeks to present expositions on the development of female physicians' mental health and the impact of this on their careers when discovered to men. To this end, several articles analyzed throughout the research were gathered, which showed how high rates of depression, emotional exhaustion and stress, as well as the lower occupation of market loads, less availability of time and dedication to studies and specialties when expected from men. Although studies have achieved success on the mental health of female physicians around the world, it is still unknown about the prescription of Brazilian female physicians, as well as little about pharmaceutical practices that aim to reduce this harm.
