Abstract

Gravitational waves allows the determination of the luinosity distance of the source, together with the redshift they can be applied to cosmology to reconstruct the cosmic expansion history. as it remarkably happened with the multi-messenger event GW170817. The student will simulate $O(100)$ gravitationaldetections of compact binary inspirals with electromagnetic counterparts to check how futuregravitational wave detectors will be able to measure the energy content of the Universeand eventually discriminate among different cosmological models.
