Abstract

Childbirth preparation groups are currently recommended tools for sharing information and promoting positive childbirth experiences. The aim of this project is to evaluate the impact of an extension project called the Childbirth Preparation Group (GPP) at the Sumaré State Hospital (HES) on the rate of normal childbirth and the use of the Birth Plan by the participants. This is a controlled intervention study, with an experimental design of only afterwards, to be carried out with two groups: a) puerperal women who attended at least four group meetings (n=44) and b) puerperal women who did not attend any group meetings (n=44). The sample size was calculated using statistical methods. Data will be collected through two questionnaires with puerperal women admitted to the HES Joint Accommodation, to map the type of delivery and the use of the Birth Plan during labor and delivery care. The data will be analyzed using statistical tests. It is hoped to identify the impact of the extension project on the rate of normal births and the use of the birth plan by puerperal women at this institution.
