Abstract

Rural space, especially close to large urban centers, can be seen in a broader perspective, if farmers develop several functions in addition to food production. Rural tourism is one of these activities, being considered, together with the development of agriculture, a strategy for farmers that aims to diversify their income, in addition to providing visitors with contact with the countryside environment, as well as getting to know customs and traditions typical of each place. The main objective of the research is to analyze rural tourism as a strategy for the social and economic reproduction of farmers located on the Terra Nova and Wine Touristic Routes in the municipalities of Jundiaí and São Roque, considering the geographical situation of these enterprises and the location close to Environmental Protection Areas. The investigation will be conducted based on bibliographical and documental surveys and through interviews with key people, responsible for rural tourism enterprises, tourists and with farmers who are located in the neighborhoods that are located on the routes, however, are not involved with tourism, in order to understand how the activity affects their lives and what strategies they use to stay in the countryside.
