Abstract Low back pain (LBP) is a very common symptom experienced by people of all ages. Permanence of pain symptoms for more than three months characterizes LBP chronicity, known as chronic low back pain (CLBP). Guidelines recommend that CBP management be carried out through experimental movement therapies in association with psychosocial interventions, including education strategies. However, one of the challenges for evaluating the effect of educational intervention is the availability of instruments that can be used to identify these interventions. In the literature there are some instruments for this purpose: Pain Concepts Questionnaire (PCQ) and the Concepts of Pain Inventory for Adults (COPI-Adult). However, these instruments are not available for Brazilian Portuguese. The aim of this study will be to carry out a cross-cultural adaptation to Brazilian-Portuguese and verify the measurement properties of the PCQ and COPI-Adult in individuals with CLBP. The study will include 100 individuals with DLC. The cross-cultural adaptation coexisted in 5 stages: initial translation, translation synthesis, back-translation, expert committee meeting and testing of pre-final versions. Verification of measurement properties will include verification of reliability, internal consistency, error, construct validity, structural validity, and accountability. Thirty participants will answer the tests to evaluate the pre-final versions and the entire sample (n=100) will be considered in the measurement properties verification step. For the reliability analysis, the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) will be used. For the analysis of structural validity, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) will be used. For theanalysis of the measurement standard error (SME) the formula EPM = SD x (1-ICC) will be used. The minimum detectable change will continue considering MDD= 1.96 x 2 x EPM. Spearman´s cholera will be used to compare the scores of the PCQ, COPI-Adult, rNPQ-Br and SOPA tests with the other scales used comparatively. This study will contribute to making tools available in BrazilianPortuguese for evaluating concepts/beliefs about pain in patients with CLBP.Keywords: low back pain, pain education, cross-cultural adaptation, validation. | |
