This project focuses on migrating news, literature and cultural iconography in times of the Irish war and a hundred years after. It challenges the idea that historical instabilities and rebellions create a knowledge of power, not only through the circulation of news at home but also with the various translational representations (Bhabha 1995) that reach the Irish diasporic subjects and descendants in South America. A decoloniality approach (Maldonado-Torres 2015; Mignolo & Walsh 2018) is adopted as a theoretical background aiming at confronting narratives of modernity and coloniality to deconstruct the colonial matrix of power and to reveal the metaphysical catastrophe that naturalizes war and anthropocene consequences. Thus, the main objective is to construct a counter-knowledge in times of centenary commemorations at home and abroad (Foster 2014). The Trinity College Dublin Rebellion Collection, the Cuala Press, Cluna Studios, and other alike collections in the Manuscripts & Archives Research Library will be the source to trace the "migrating narratives" in South American press, cinema, art and literature and to establish a multilateral translational and transdisciplinary dialogue between Ireland and Latin America.
