Abstract

Soil microbiota is crucial in nutrient cycling, fertility, and carbon sequestration. It can stimulate plant growth through direct mechanisms, such as plant hormone production, and indirect mechanisms, such as pathogen inhibition. However, managing these microorganisms faces challenges, such as instability in application conditions. Nanotechnology can be a tool to help address these problems, with biogenic nanoparticles showing effectiveness in controlling phytopathogens, promoting plant growth, and stimulating microorganisms. These approaches can contribute to reducing the use of pesticides and improving soil fertilization and bioremediation. However, it is still necessary to assess the safety and fate of nanoparticles to protect the consumers' health and the environment. It is essential to study their toxicity, stability, and potential for accumulation in soil and food. The present proposal aims to evaluate the effects on microbiota and the transport of biogenic silver and iron nanoparticles in plants based on plant growth-promoting bacteria used in seed priming. Initial results of the project indicate that these nanoparticles were able to stimulate growth and increase the germination rate of seeds.
