Abstract This is research on archive and memory based on the work of the North American artist Barbara Hammer and her appropriation of the video technique as a process ideological and aesthetic that works towards the main objective of his audiovisual work: the creation of a sign representative of lesbian identity. In the artist's works chosen for the corpus of this analysis - Superdyke Meets Madame X (1976) and No No Nooky T.V (1987) - we seek to understand, in each one, the ways in which Hammer uses video and how such technology contributes to its audiovisuality in particular. From the central motif of his production, the aim is to understand Hammer's work as a whole, but, in particular, video works, within the notions of archive, memory and record elaborated by Ann Cvetkovich and Jacques Derrida, seeking to understand the desires of recording and fixing the experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community in relation to History and to the audiovisual imaginary. Based on this reasoning, it is proposed to develop an authorial and hybrid artistic work in video, as a practical exercise of the conclusions about the use of such technology and files, allocated the same impetus and desire for memory and dialogue with Hammer's poetics. The results are expected to reveal the poetic and aesthetic aspects of Hammer's audiovisual work based on his relationship with the video and that the authorial video can be the translation of a file of feelings of the own experiences of the author of this research proposal, aiming to refer to the imaginary of LGBTQIA+ people. | |
