Abstract Albeit a young science, gravitational-wave astronomy has sparked a major revolution in physics. As the 4th observation run of LIGO and Virgo is presently ongoing, research in this field could not be more timely. Detections rely crucially on accurate description of the emitted waves, which in turn depend on the intricate dynamics of their progenitors. This creates high demand for more powerful analytic methods to confront the data with. One method consists of an effective field theory approach to classical gravity. As this method has already been developed in previous works, the goal of this project lies in strengthening it. More specifically, we plan to better understand the roles of radiative degrees of freedom, generalized unitary and BMS transformations in the computation of the 2-body dynamics. | |
