Abstract

The internship abroad proposal is for the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), in Barcelona, Spain, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Anna Ortiz. It will last five months (March-July 2024). The aim is to theoretically develop discussions on gender, youth, public spaces and the body through the scientific contributions of gender studies carried out at the UAB. The university is internationally renowned and the Geography department has a Geography and Gender Research Group, a pioneer in gender and intersectionality studies in Spanish Geography, which will be fundamental for advances in the theorizing of the doctoral research, since gender is one of the structuring concepts of the thesis. Among the proposed activities are: participation in the Group's meetings; meetings with the supervisor; reading and bibliographic fiching; discussion of the doctoral research in the Group; participation in thesis and dissertation defense boards; participation in events; and writing a scientific article that will address the transatlantic interlocutions between Gender Geography/Feminist Geographies in Brazil and Spain in the interpretation of the spatial practices of young people who participate in marginal/peripheral culture collectives. As activities to transfer the knowledge acquired during the internship, we list: publication of an article in co-authorship with the supervisor; incorporation of the theoretical debate into the doctoral thesis; promotion of a mini-course at an event; and a lecture on internationalization experiences, with other students who took part in the internship.
