Abstract

The aim of this postdoctoral activity is a sedimentological stratigraphic study based on two continuous cores from the Acre and Marajó basins in northern Brazil. The discussion of the sequence of sedimentation events will be integrated as part of the interdisciplinary work of the main research investigation of the Trans-Amazon Drilling Project (TADP). A fundamental aspect of the post-doctoral project is to coordinate, acquire, and document the detailed stratigraphy and sedimentology of TADP-AC-1 (Acre Basin) and TADP-MA-1 (Marajó Basin). The target stratigraphic sections include recording the paleogeographic and environmental changes in the Amazon region caused by the evolution of the Andes and the fluvial sedimentary systems before the establishment of the modern drainage basin during the Cenozoic.
