Abstract The purpose of this research is to conduct a survey of female composers of soundtracks for Brazilian cinema, with the aim of valuing their works and removing them from structural obscurity. It also aims to understand the extent of gender inequality in this specific area and understand the factors that have prevented these female composers from consolidating themselves in a field mostly occupied by men.The justification for this study lies in the absence of both quantitative data and reflections on the existing disparity. The chosen time frame covers movies that were released in Brazil between 1995 and 2019, a period that includes the so-called "resumption of Brazilian cinema" until the year before the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of this research will encourage additional investigations into the presence of women in the composition of soundtracks, a topic that does not yet exist in debates on gender equity in Brazilian cinema. Furthermore, it is expected that the data obtained will provide input into the development of inclusive actions to combat gender inequality. | |
