Abstract

Cancer is described as the main public health problem in the world, being one of the leading causes of premature death before the age of 70 and representing one of the main barriers to increasing life expectancy. Chemotherapy is the most used therapy for treating cancer, both curatively and palliatively. However, due to its non-selective characteristic, it can be toxic to benign tissues, generating several side effects. Telemonitoring can support the early identification of such events, improve patient adherence to treatment, and reduce visits to the emergency department and unscheduled readmissions, in addition to being an important tool in self-management. Telenursing was standardized, in Brazil, through the resolution of the Federal Nursing Council No. 696 of 2022, which provides for the role of Nursing in digital health. This project aims to evaluate and classify, through telemonitoring, the adverse events of adult patients affected by breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Therefore, a prospective cohort study will be carried out with a follow-up of the population for five months. The study will be carried out at the Oncology clinic of the inside of the state of São Paulo. It is expected that the research will produce knowledge by contributing to the gaps in telemonitoring of cancer patients. Therefore, it is an innovative proposal with the possibility of improving the care offered and the quality of life of cancer patients.
