Abstract

The central objective of journalistic research is to provide an investigation that creates means for dissemination and production of scientific knowledge about the relationship between climate change and Brazilian cities. It aims to bring the citizen closer to the academic production related to the FAPESP project "Recent transformations in the urban fabric of Brazilian cities: Perspectives for the formulation of public policies in city systems". Methodologically, it relies on empirical research on the effects of climate change in pre-selected cases, a literature review on concepts and alternatives related to combating extreme events and semi-structured interviews with citizens and/or public managers. Conceptually, it should align with the definitions of vulnerability, adaptation, resilience, climate justice and transformation to use them appropriately to the debate. As products, it foresees the formulation of cartographic and graphic material that supports journalistic products and favors the understanding of contemporary challenges related to climate change. As a result, it is expected to reach, with the planned products, a wide audience in order to facilitate their participation in debates on the subject.
