Cross-cultural and contextual adaptation of an Italian anti-bullying intervention for use in Brazilian schools: initial study

Abstract

Bullying and cyberbullying are classified as public health issues due to their high prevalence rates and the consequences they generate for the entire educational community. Despite extensive research on this topic, there are gaps in Brazil regarding the prevention and intervention strategies for these forms of violence. To address this, two studies will be conducted.The first study involves a mapping review to examine the scientific literature on existing antibullying intervention programs. The databases consulted will include SCOPUS, Web of Science, PsycINFO, PubMed, and SciELO. For data analysis, the PRISMA framework will be employed, which includes data extraction and structural analysis.The second study will involve the translation, adaptation, and validation of the Italian program NoTrap! for the Brazilian student population. A qualitative evaluation of the intervention material will be conducted with the target audience (adolescents). The material will also be assessed by a panel of experts using the Delphi method. Finally, a pilot study will be conducted. The proposal's execution will be in collaboration with the Italian research group. The goal is to provide, at the end of this research, a product with evidence of the effectiveness of the NoTrap! antibullying program for Brazilian students.
