Abstract

This project proposes, based on a comparative study, to study two neighborhoods in Presidente Prudente/SP, investigating aspects related to socio-spatial inequalities, such as living in stigmatized territories, which ends up being reflected in the practical sense of living in the city. As spatial relationships become more complex, the idea of socio-spatial fragmentation constitutes an important conceptual tool for analyzing the logics that guide the production of space. We aim to understand socio-spatial inequalities by comparing and relating the daily lives of residents of Vila Marina and Jardim Morada do Sol and how they are expressed from different perspectives, focusing on spatial practices that affect city dwellers both objectively and subjectively. The study will be based on the concepts of socio-spatial fragmentation, territorial stigma and urban mobility, which help to understand the logic of social division of space, which generates or reinforces stigmas and stereotypes. From a methodological point of view, the research will be carried out through qualitative procedures. The insertion of systematized and cartographically represented information will also be valued in the research.
