Abstract

Based on the conceptual theoretical framework of demographic, epidemiological and health transitions, this project aims to continue studies on the insertion and presence of Italian immigrants and their descendants in the interior of the State of São Paulo, based on the reconstitution of this immigrant community in the municipality of Franca, at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. The objective is to investigate the relationship between mortality and the living conditions of the immigrant population in the first decades of the republican government, when a significant number of Italians entered the region, causing significant changes in daily life in the interior of São Paulo through spatial mobility. and social aspects of these groups. The research aims to analyze the dynamics of morbidity and mortality in the Italian community over forty years through the collection and systematization of information from death records in the city of Franca, organized in a database developed for this purpose, which will allow comparative analyzes of historical-demographic character of the characteristics and evolution of mortality among Italian immigrants and their descendants with other segments of the Franca's population.
