Abstract

It aims to understand the characteristics of Comic Journalism, based on female works that fit the format, bringing as the central focus of analysis the production of journalist Carol Ito. The object of study will be reports produced by the Brazilian journalist, which are published independently and in online media outlets (magazines). The exploratory study aims to bring together the topics covered, editorials, characters, events and journalistic techniques used. Data from the exploratory analysis will allow for a more precise definition of these elements. Period of analysis: 2022 and 2023, in the media spaces: Revista Piauí, Trip and TPM (including at least one report), in addition to independent productions that won him awards. Content Analysis will be used in this item, defining categories based on the collected material. The methodological scope is complemented by the literature review, which will focus on the female presence in the 'comic' journalistic format, developing a set of references from these productions, which could serve as a basis for other studies. The final result aims to identify the general characteristics of this production, in addition to the intrinsic meanings that journalistic products developed in the format of comic books by women carry, such as those defined in the UN Agenda 2030, especially SDGs 5 and 10, which include Equality of Gender and Female Empowerment and Reduction of Inequalities, respectively.
