Abstract

Melanoma is responsible for a large proportion of deaths associated withskincancer and, despite being frequently associated with the elderly, it is the third most commoncancer in adolescents and young adults. There are risk factors that lead to the development ofthe disease, which is classified into four main subtypes. Pediatric cases are often different frommelanomas in adults and there are some criteria, different from those used for older patients, to facilitate diagnosis, avoid errors and delays in seeking care. Melanoma treatment variesaccording to its stage (0, I, II, III and IV). Justification: Melanoma in pediatric age is complex, there are not many studies related to melanoma in children, adolescents and young adults inthe literature and the treatment and management of the disease is the same as that usedinadults. Objective: Sociodemographic and clinicopathological characterization of patients under30 years old, at the Barretos Cancer Hospital, diagnosed with melanoma. Methodology: Thestudy will be retrospective and observational with sampling by availability. The number ofindividuals with the necessary criteria for inclusion in the study will be surveyed (a total of 204cases) and the patients' medical records will be collected, which will be stored on the RedCapplatform. Various tests will be used for the association of continuous variables, univariate andmultivariate analyses, in addition to survival analyzes and the statistical significance value, forpractical purposes, for all calculations will be 95% (p<=0.05).
