Abstract

Public communication of science makes scientific information accessible through an appropriate language to the target audience. Therefore, disseminating science to the general public has increasingly become a challenge and an urgent and frequent demand from both research centers and funding and governmental institutions. From 2014 onwards, a partnership began between the Núcleo Ouroboros de Divulgação Científica and the Center for Research, Education and Innovation in Glass (CeRTEV-FAPESP) and several initiatives were developed to assist in the scientific dissemination of glass research. Different formats and media such as theater, music, drawing, videos and narratives transmitted via radio have been developed over the years to reach the target audience, whether children or adults, with different degrees of training. Evaluating in particular this creation methodology that combines scientific dissemination and journalism was a demand that arose after the creation of the Minuto Vítreo program, broadcast by Rádio UFSCar. In 2019, this project was developed and the results showed the potential of podcasts to disseminate research and curiosities about glass and glass ceramics, as well as the sciences involved, having reached several listeners of Rádio UFSCar. However, some data showed greater access to streaming platforms such as Spotify and greater interest in interviews with experts, particularly after the pandemic period. We then justify the proposal for this extension of the scientific journalism project to carry out and evaluate the production of longer podcasts of interviews with CeRTEV researchers as well as the reach and return of the listening public on the most comprehensive platforms such as Spotify.
