Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the impact of auditory and/or cognitive impairment on the quality of life of post-traumatic brain injury patients. METHODOLOGY: Patients being followed up at the Neurotrauma/Neurosurgery Outpatient Clinic at the Federal University of São Paulo will be selected and will be attending a neurological consultation. The inclusion criteria for choosing the sample will be: patients must have suffered a TBI (closed/open) at least six months previously, be at least 18 years old, be undergoing neurological follow-up and have the cognitive capacity to answer the questionnaires. Patients with a positive otologic history, those who wear hearing aids and those who are unresponsive will be excluded. Subjects will undergo a clinical history, meatoscopy, the European Brain Injury questionnaire created by Teasdale et al. in 1997 (EBIQ - cited and adapted by SANTOS et al., 2001), the Scale of Auditory Behaviors (SAB) questionnaire (NUNES et al. 2013) and the Scale of Self-Perception of Central Auditory Processing Abilities (EAPAC - ABREU et al., 2022).
