Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the possibilities and barriers to the inclusionof women in conservative Brazilian parties. The main question is: how do the Republican andLiberal Parties (PL) open space and opportunities for incorporation for the participation anddemand of women in deliberation and representation? Based on a multi-method study usingsemi-structured interviews, analysis of party documents and data from the TSE, the aim is torelate explanatory models that focus on intra-party and sociological processes, with theobjective of understanding the role that the Republican and Liberal parties play in bringingwomen into the institutional party arena. Focusing on the current context of the empowermentof women's sectors in conservative parties, which act in the name of the political inclusion ofwomen, this study contributes to showing a scenario of the rescue and strengthening ofaffirmative policies and legal impositions for women in conservative parties. It also hopes topropose a reflection on the effectiveness of these policies.
