Abstract

This project aims to analyze three moments in Nietzsche's work in which the author uses a certain dramatic metaphor to understand the connections between concepts such as essence and appearance, activity and passivity, creation and contemplation, philosophical taste, etc. The background of these articulations, which is also the general theme of the main research in which this project is inserted, is Nietzsche's understanding of mimesis, with its changes and evolutions throughout the philosopher's thought. I will be focusing in three moments of Nietzsche's works that reference the dramatic metaphor more directly: the first, in Wagner in Bayreuth, in which Nietzsche outlines the figure of a dithyrambic dramatist; the second, in §221 of Human, All Too Human, in which a certain classicizing ideal of art is revived; and the third, in §301 of Gay Science, in which the figure of the thinking-sensing ones is conceived in parallel to the authorial/dramaturgical activity.Analyzing the conceptual shifts and continuities between these three moments, the project also proposes a comparison with the posthumous fragments of these periods, locating Nietzsche's sources and alternative formulations of these philosophical problems.
