Abstract

With the ever-increasing growth of national (and international) scientific production, the substantive analysis of this production in its entirety becomes increasingly complex; nevertheless, whether it is to identify the leading centers of innovation in a research area, enabling more informed funding actions, or to determine the structure of knowledge production, aiming to explain the social, political, and cultural factors that lead to this configuration, a representative descriptive analysis of a research area is imperative for anyone who wishes to better understand the evolution of science. In this sense, this project aims to produce a descriptive analysis of political science in Latin America, using tools developed in scientometrics, as well as text mining techniques. To this end, we will focus on articles published in the main political science journals in Latin America from 2006 to 2023, which will be subjected to bibliometric analysis and the use of topic modeling.
