Abstract

In Mozambique, financial capital has produced a new socio-spatial order characterized by changes in the content of the national territory.Although constitutionally it is established that the Mozambican territory is one and indivisible, on a local scale, the reality has proven to be complex and multifaceted. The presence of financial capital in Mozambique has been the origin of a new order, which in practical terms nullifies the principle of unity of the national territory. As a result, the role of the State has changed profoundly, from a provider of public services to citizens, to a regulator of the common interests of hegemonic agents, which are manifested through privatizations and concessions of public infrastructures on the basis of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).The empirical focus of the research proposal is to investigate the process of construction, concession and installation of tolls on the Maputo Circular Road, capital of Mozambique.
