Abstract In this project, the student will become familiar with Floquet engineering by exploring its basic aspects. We will explore Floquet engineering with various external periodic time-dependent potentials. We will compare the approach derived from solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation to those obtained from the effective Floquet Hamiltonian. Additionally, we will analyze realistic polarization ensembles and their coupling with few-level systems, which allow for semi-analytical treatments and numerical simulations. The quantum limit of light will be examined, highlighting its key differences from the classical treatment of the electromagnetic field. Finally, we will investigate the primary features arising from the inclusion of non-Hermitian terms in the bare Hamiltonian. | |
